What makes Karachi payroll different
Sindh has its own labour laws, so payroll for a Karachi employee is not the same as for a Lahore one. Social security goes to SESSI, the Sindh Employees' Social Security Institution, rather than PESSI. The Sindh minimum wage for unskilled workers was notified at Rs 43,000 a month from 1 July 2026, higher than Punjab's last notified Rs 40,000, and Sindh also notifies separate rates for semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled workers.
Companies headquartered in Karachi with branches in Punjab or Islamabad therefore run more than one compliance profile in the same payroll. StreamHCM handles that by attaching statutory rules to the branch, so a Karachi employee gets SESSI and the Sindh minimum wage check while a Lahore colleague gets PESSI, in a single payroll run.

Sindh payroll compliance in StreamHCM
Under the Sindh Employees' Social Security Act 2016, the employer pays 6% for covered employees, and the employer's share cannot be deducted from wages. SESSI also offers a self-assessment scheme. StreamHCM records the contribution as an employer cost on the payroll register so finance sees the true cost per employee.
EOBI applies in Karachi as everywhere: 5% employer and 1% employee of the notified minimum wage, which EOBI's circular sets at Rs 2,035 and Rs 407 per insured person from July 2026, due by the 15th of the next month. FBR income tax under Section 149 is withheld monthly from annualised taxable salary using the Tax Year 2027 slabs, and StreamHCM re-estimates the annual figure each month so raises and bonuses are taxed in the month they happen.
Rates change after budgets and board notifications. In StreamHCM they are settings with effective dates, so July payroll uses the new rate while June stays exactly as it was paid.
Built for Karachi-scale workforces
Rotating and night shifts for call centres, warehouses and factories, with overtime rules per shift.
Biometric and face attendance at the gate plus mobile GPS check-in for sales, delivery and field service staff across the city.
Bulk payroll for hundreds or thousands of employees, with itemised payslips in the employee app.
Loans, advances and final settlement handled inside payroll, not in a separate sheet.
Multi-company and multi-branch structure for groups with Karachi, Hyderabad and upcountry offices.
Approval workflows so managers approve leave and overtime from their phones during traffic, not at month end.
How Karachi companies get started
Setup is remote-first: we import your employee list, configure branches and shifts, connect attendance devices and load opening balances. A 14-day free trial includes a parallel payroll run, so you can compare StreamHCM's output with your current sheet before switching.

Typical Karachi HR scenarios
A port-side logistics company in Karachi may run warehouse crews on rotating shifts, drivers who never visit the office, and an accounts team at a head office on Shahrah-e-Faisal. StreamHCM handles each group with its own shift and check-in method: devices for the warehouse, GPS check-in for drivers and web check-in for office staff, all feeding one payroll.
Textile exporters in Korangi and SITE commonly combine permanent workers, contract labour and piece-rate staff. Payroll has to check piece-rate earnings against Sindh's time-rate minimum, which rose to Rs 43,000 a month for unskilled workers from 1 July 2026, and calculate SESSI for covered staff. Having both rules in payroll settings means a late notification becomes an arrears run rather than a rework of the whole year.
Banks, telecoms and BPOs in Clifton and DHA tend to have large white-collar teams with performance cycles and frequent hiring. For them the recruitment, onboarding and performance modules matter as much as payroll.
Getting started in Karachi
Most Karachi customers start with a trial on a single branch: import employees from Excel, connect the attendance device, set up shifts and run one payroll in parallel with your current method. When the numbers match, the remaining branches and modules follow. Our Lahore-based team supports setup remotely.
