What an HRMS should do
The value of an HRMS comes from connection. When attendance, leave and payroll are separate tools, someone has to move data between them every month, and errors creep in at each step. In a connected HRMS, a punch on a device updates attendance, approved leave updates the balance and the attendance record, and payroll reads both directly. One record per employee replaces copies in different files.
- Core HR: employee records, documents, contracts and lifecycle events.
- Time: attendance, shifts, overtime, time tracking and holidays.
- Leave: policies, accrual, approvals and balances.
- Payroll: salary structures, tax, contributions, loans, payslips and payroll finalisation.
- Talent: recruitment, onboarding, performance, training.
- Self-service: an employee app and a manager portal.

Built for Pakistan
Global HRMS products often treat Pakistan as one more country with a tax table. StreamHCM was designed around how Pakistani companies run: biometric devices at the gate, provincial differences in minimum wage and social security, EOBI on the minimum wage base, monthly re-estimation of salary tax under Section 149, PKR pricing, and support from a team in Lahore.

HRMS, HRIS or HCM?
The terms overlap. An HRIS is often used to mean the system of record for employee data. An HRMS adds processes such as attendance, leave and payroll. HCM, human capital management, usually adds talent processes such as recruitment, performance and learning. StreamHCM covers all three, which is why the name says HCM. Our article on HRMS versus HRIS explains the difference in more detail.
How to choose an HRMS
- Run a parallel payroll during the trial and compare results line by line.
- Test your attendance device and your trickiest shift pattern.
- Check how the system handles a mid-year tax change or a new minimum wage notification.
- Ask how branches in different provinces are handled.
- Confirm pricing for your headcount in PKR, including devices and support.
- Check data security: roles, audit logs and backups.

Pakistani payroll compliance built in
Payroll in StreamHCM includes the statutory items Pakistani employers deal with every month: FBR salary tax withheld under Section 149 using the Tax Year 2027 slabs, EOBI at 5% employer and 1% employee of the notified minimum wage, and provincial social security such as PESSI in Punjab or SESSI in Sindh, set per branch. Rates are settings rather than spreadsheet formulas, so when a new notification arrives payroll is updated once and every later run uses it, while finalised payslips stay exactly as they were paid.
Implementation steps
A typical rollout follows four steps. First, set up your organisation: companies, branches, departments and designations. Second, import employees and salary structures from Excel. Third, connect attendance devices and configure shifts, leave policies and holidays. Fourth, run payroll in parallel for a month and compare. Most companies switch over after the first matching month and add talent modules later.

Security and data ownership
Employee data is sensitive. StreamHCM uses role-based access so managers see only their teams and payroll is restricted to authorised users, keeps an audit log of changes, and runs in the cloud with regular backups. Your data remains yours, and you can export it.
