Pharmaceutical HR

HR and payroll software for pharmaceutical companies in Pakistan

A pharmaceutical company runs two very different workforces: a manufacturing plant with shifts, cleanrooms and strict training requirements, and a field force of medical representatives and managers covering doctors and pharmacies across the country. StreamHCM manages both in one HR and payroll system.

The field force

Medical representatives start their day at a clinic or hospital, not an office. Managers need to know that reps are in their territories, HR needs attendance for payroll, and finance needs daily allowances and travel claims processed without piles of paper. Spreadsheet-based field attendance is easy to fake and slow to process.

With StreamHCM, reps check in from the mobile app with GPS at the start of the day, territory and reporting lines are part of the employee record, and expense and travel claims are submitted from the app with receipts attached. Managers approve on their phones, and approved claims flow into payroll or reimbursement.

The plant

Pharma plants run shifts and need staff who are trained and qualified for the areas they work in. Regulators and auditors inspecting against good manufacturing practice look for evidence that staff were trained on the relevant procedures before working on them. StreamHCM's training module records courses, assessments and certifications per employee, so HR can show training history for anyone on the floor.

  • Shift attendance on face or fingerprint devices at plant entrances.
  • Training and certification records per employee.
  • Documents such as job descriptions and SOP acknowledgements stored on the employee file.
  • Overtime approval and payroll for plant staff.

  • Incentives for sales targets added and paid through payroll.
  • Training, assessment and certification tracking for plant and field staff.
  • Performance reviews with KPIs for sales and production teams.

Pakistani payroll compliance built in

Payroll in StreamHCM includes the statutory items Pakistani employers deal with every month: FBR salary tax withheld under Section 149 using the Tax Year 2027 slabs, EOBI at 5% employer and 1% employee of the notified minimum wage, and provincial social security such as PESSI in Punjab or SESSI in Sindh, set per branch. Rates are settings rather than spreadsheet formulas, so when a new notification arrives payroll is updated once and every later run uses it, while finalised payslips stay exactly as they were paid.

One system, two workforces

Head office HR sees field and plant staff in one place, with reports by region, territory, plant and department. That makes headcount planning, incentive budgeting and audit preparation part of the same workflow instead of separate spreadsheets.

Implementing StreamHCM in a pharma company

Many pharma companies start with the field force, because GPS attendance and claims give immediate visibility. Set up regions and territories, roll out the app to reps and managers, and move expense claims into the system. Then bring in the plant: devices, shifts, overtime and training records. Payroll for both workforces then runs together.

Sales incentives and tax

Incentive-heavy field forces often see large swings in monthly pay. Because StreamHCM re-estimates annual taxable income each month under Section 149, an incentive month raises the estimate and the deduction for the rest of the year, rather than leaving a shortfall at year end. Reps see the breakdown on their payslip.

Performance reviews for sales and production

Pharma companies typically review field staff against sales targets, call rates and coverage, and plant staff against quality, output and safety measures. StreamHCM's performance module supports KPI-based reviews with different templates per role, self and manager assessments, and review history on the employee record. Results can feed increments and bonuses in payroll.

Territory changes and transfers

Reps change territories and managers change regions regularly. In StreamHCM a transfer updates the reporting line, territory and branch in one step, keeps the employee's history and leave balance, and applies the right provincial rules from the transfer date. Approval chains for leave and claims follow the new manager automatically.

Exit clearances recover company assets such as tablets, vehicles and samples, and final settlement is calculated from the record.

Leavers' records stay in the system for audit and re-hire decisions.
